Galaxy S8’s Bixby button can be remapped to Google Assistant (or anything else) with an app

Site default logo image

One of Samsung’s big software points on the Galaxy S8 is Bixby, the company’s new AI assistant. Samsung is going so all in on this assistant that it added a dedicated button for it on the side. However, since this is Android, some people would prefer to use Google Assistant/Now for this button. Now, thanks to a clever developer, that is possible…

Samsung Galaxy S8+ beats other Android flagships in battery-life test, falls short of iPhone 7 Plus

Site default logo image

Battery-life tests conducted by PhoneArena show that Samsung’s Galaxy S8+ phablet out-lasts other Android flagship devices, but fails to match the performance offered by Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus. The site reports that the device provided exactly 8 hours of use.

The Galaxy S8+ battery life test result stands at exactly 8 hours. Compare this with the 7 hours and 18 minutes that the already very good Galaxy S7 Edge scored, and you see that Samsung has managed to improve on their last year’s phone. The S8+ also bests the Google Pixel XL, the OnePlus 3T, but falls a bit short of the battery life on the iPhone 7 Plus …

You can change the Galaxy S8’s navigation buttons to the standard Google layout

Site default logo image

The Galaxy S8’s Infinity Display is nothing short of impressive, but it wasn’t without some compromise, at least, if you view physical buttons as a good thing. To achieve it, Samsung had to ditch its signature button in favor of on-screen navigation, but it kept the same layout, which I dislike. Thankfully, you can change it to Google’s standard layout.

Samsung’s big feature with the Galaxy S8 is the “bezel-light” Infinity Display. Thanks to that, Samsung was able to cram in some massive 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch displays without making the phones too unwieldy. However, you can’t really get a sense of how impressive it is until you look at it next to traditional devices. So, let’s take a look…

This allowed them to go with an almost bezel-less look, increased screen sizes, and also keep the phone’s physical size relatively close to last year’s models. But besides looks alone, what’s the difference between the standard Galaxy S8 and the larger S8+?
