As teased last May, Google Photos for Android is now using the animated Material You carousel for Memories.

ChromeOS 124 is currently in beta, and it introduces a Settings app redesign that leverages Material You and looks a lot like the Android Settings app on tablets.

Google’s Material You is a few years old at this point, but the company is apparently still working to improve it in upcoming Android releases with a new way of accessing “Color contrast” options.

Earlier this year, Google Chat introduced a floating bottom bar, and Google Keep for Android is following suit. 

Google is finally rolling out a straightforward Material You redesign of Play Books for Android. It follows the new icon introduced last year, with the app rarely seeing updates.

While we’re waiting for the audio recorder redesign with noise cancellation and Voice Moods to become available, Google Messages has updated the playback UI to make use of the new Material 3 slider.

As we previously spotted, Google Messages is beginning to roll out a new in-app contacts page with a touch of Material You.

Google Translate has rolled out a redesign of the Conversation experience that can “automatically detect and translate languages as you converse.” 

Ahead of this year’s expected arrival of Wear OS 5, Google is finally preparing to launch Material You color theming alongside a hint at a redesign for the app launcher.

In addition to new progress bars, Material You has redesigned sliders that are thicker and should be easier to interact with.

Dynamic Color was previously Chrome for Android’s primary expression of Material You, but the New Tab Page (NTP) is now seeing a redesign.

Following the unveil over two years ago, Google continues to bring Material You to its various apps. There were many updates and redesigns in 2023, but here are the most notable ones. 

Back in August, Google announced a big redesign of Chat that adds Duet AI and other smart features, as well as audio huddles, to the work-focused messaging service. A new homescreen is core to this revamp, with the straightforward web version announced first. Last week, the redesigned mobile client was introduced with a new take on navigation for Google apps.

One of the best third-party launchers on Android is Niagara Launcher, thanks in part to its flexible and unique concept for the homescreen. Now, Niagara is launching “Anycon,” a new icon pack that applies Material You theming to all apps, regardless if it’s actually supported.

Back in September, Google announced a Material You redesign of desktop Chrome that’s now more widely rolling out.

If something about Gmail for Android looks slightly different, you are correct. Gmail’s search bar, along with Google Chat’s, is now bigger to comply with the latest Material 3 design guidelines.

Google is updating the Individual Contact Android widget it introduced earlier this year to bring more Material You flourishes.

Google is rolling out ChromeOS 117, and it’s a very big update for Chromebooks that adds Material You, as well as other usability enhancements.

Following last month’s announcement, the Material You redesign of Fitbit for Android and iOS is rolling out starting today.
