The Samsung Galaxy SII was one of the first hugely successful Android smartphones when it launched in the early 2010s, but it’s been dead for years at this point. Recently, though, some developers were able to port Android 10 to the Galaxy SII and the Galaxy Note 3.
LineageOS continues to roll out support for devices, with the immensely popular OnePlus 6 now being supported by the biggest custom ROM.

The latest wave of devices to support the Android Pie-based LineageOS 16 now includes the Asus Zenfone 6, original Razer Phone, and several older Samsung Galaxy devices as originally spotted by the folks over at Android Police.
Android is a very flexible platform, and that means it lands on a lot of different hardware. Recently, a build of Android was successfully ported to the popular Nintendo Switch, and you can download it if you’re feeling daring enough.
In the ROM community, LineageOS is arguably still the ‘go-to’ option thanks in part to the sheer number of devices supported. That said, there is no longer support for the Google Nexus 4 or Samsung Galaxy S9 with LineageOS.
The Essential Phone is one of the best-supported devices, even despite the rocky road they’ve traveled since release in 2017. Despite the internal support, somewhat shockingly, the Essential Phone has never been officially supported by LineageOS — until now.

LineageOS is undoubtedly one of the most popular third-party ROMs available for Android smartphones. It supports more than any other ROM out there and now includes LineageOS 16 Android Pie-based support for a further 10 devices. (via Android Police).
As far as custom ROMs go, LineageOS is far and away one of the most popular and well-supported thanks to the active community and slimline experience. Support for Android Pie isn’t all-encompassing for every device, so the addition of nine new handsets and the Nvidia Shield Tablet will be welcome inclusions.
LineageOS is the offshoot of the original and immensely popular CyanogenMod ROM that was likely one of the, if not the most popular ROM on smartphone across the globe.

Cyanogen essentially shut down in December, and a blog post from CyanogenMod at the time said that for various reasons (including the “PR stain,” “shared sources,” and more), it would be shutting down as well. Now, CyanogenMod lives on in the form of LineageOS, and builds of the new Android-based operating system are now available for a select few devices.
