It was up in the air whether or not the LG G2 would be getting the update to Android 5.0 Lollipop, but LG has now taken to Facebook to confirm that the device will be at some point getting the update. The company also made note of the G3, which will supposedly be getting the update faster than most. Asus, yet another manufacturer of Android phones, has also announced some of the devices that it is currently planning to grace with Lollipop, with the ZenFone and PadFoneS making the list.
LG has consistently released entry-level handsets that borrow design elements from its flagship G3, and it appears that the company isn’t slowing down. Pictured above is what’s being referred to as the “LG Liger” and with the exception of its beastly moniker, it’s probably just another low-cost smartphone heading to emerging markets, but with one exception.
LG announced today that its new G Watch R is going to be launching during the beginning of November in select markets, including France, Italy, Spain and the UK. The company plans to introduce its new round smartwatch to additional territories like Asia and North America soon after, but it didn’t give an exact time. After much speculation, LG unveiled the G Watch R last month during IFA in Berlin, allowing us to get a little time with its new smartwatch.
One of Android’s biggest selling points is the ability to customize your device as you see fit, but sadly several wireless carriers engage in the practice of shipping handsets with locked bootloaders. For example, the LG G3 is a fine device out of the box, but one of its disadvantages is that most carriers sell it locked down. Aware of this and the device’s popularity, the folks at Team Codefire have created “Bump!,” an easy to use software tool that lets you boot into a custom recovery setup.

Google appears to be aiming for tight control over its Android Wear smartwatch platform as it asked crowdfunding site IndieGoGo to take down a campaign for a budget smartwatch, Com1, reports Android Police.
Com1 used stock images of Android Wear and the Android Wear trademark in its campaign page, which was taken down by IGG under the premise of an intellectual property infringement complaint by Google shortly after the campaign launched.
Since Google is known to have a relaxed attitude to use of its imagery, the motivation here appears to be control which companies are able to launch Android Wear devices …

LG appears to be working on a new smartwatch, according to a set of recently discovered FCC documents. While it’s unclear if this device will run Google’s Android Wear operating system, the filing revealed that it will feature support for CMDA 3G network connectivity, meaning that it won’t necessarily need to be tethered to a smartphone for a data connection, however 3G isn’t exactly blazing fast.
From flip phones to flagships, LG makes a lot of handsets, so how about another device from the South Korean electronics manufacturer? The company’s mid-range Vigor is on its way to AT&T and will be available to purchase on Friday, September 26th for $50 with a new two year service agreement, or for $13.96 or $16.75 per month under the carrier’s Next program. However, if you’re not interested in re-upping or making payments, you can buy the device outright for $350.
Long before the smartphone became commonplace, flip phones reigned supreme. Now almost extinct, every so often a prominent electronics maker quietly releases one in select markets. Keeping this tradition going, LG recently announced a blast from the past, a brand new flip phone called the Wine Smart, which surprisingly runs Android 4.4. KitKat.
What can I say about the Moto 360 that hasn’t already been said about every other Android Wear smartwatch on the market? Luckily, there’s quite a bit. First off, if you’re not familiar with Android Wear, this brief review may not make a lot of sense to you, so I’d recommend reading our Android Wear review to get caught up on things.
The Moto 360 is the smartwatch we’ve all been waiting for this year. I wear this thing everywhere. I suppose Android Wear’s functionality has a lot to do with my love for it, but the Moto 360 packs charm all on its own. Enough with the small talk, let’s get into the review…
Today, LG launched a promo that gives new G3 customers an extra battery and a battery-charging cradle with the purchase of the company’s latest flagship smartphone. People who pick up a G3 in the US between now and September 22nd can register at a special website to receive these accessories by submitting their phone’s IEMI number, along with proof of purchase.
Tips and my own inbox confirm that Motorola is sending I/O attendees out their Moto 360 Smartwatches right now! Will they make it before Tim Cook and Co announce their own entry into the smartwatch field? I suppose it depends on which part of your FedEx carrier’s route you are on.
LG recently unveiled its latest smartwatch, the G Watch R. This is the first Android Wear device with a full circle display, because as some of you may know, the Moto 360 has a “flat tire” due to the sensors located at the bottom side of the face. The good news is, the G Watch R is just as premium as the Moto 360, and in my opinion, possibly better…
The LG G Watch R has been surrounded by a flurry of excitement, even in lieu of the fact that the much-hyped Moto 360 is supposed to be launching soon. And the timing is likely no coincidence, as following its official announcement last week, LG has come out today at IFA 2014 in Berlin with an official release date for its own upcoming round smartwatch (via The Wall Street Journal).
IFA 2014 is almost here and we’ll be out in Berlin bringing you full coverage of the show. If you’ve never heard of IFA, it’s a Berlin based trade show that’s similar to CES. IFA is up there as one of the largest trade shows of the year which normally brings a handful of exciting announcements in all areas of technology. While September may be a fruit company’s only time to shine, the rest of the major tech giants are busy finishing out the year with a bang…
LG is going to announce a round smartwatch next week during IFA in Berlin and to keep its hype train chugging along, the company has shared a new teaser image of its next timepiece on its Facebook page. Captioned with the tagline “smart comes full circle,” the photo shows a shadowy image of what looks like a round watch face that almost looks metallic.
LG Announced today that it will showcase a pair of new smartphones next month at IFA in Berlin. Like some of the company’s other recently announced handsets, the L Fino and L Bello are entry-level devices that will borrow design elements from high-end gadgets like the LG G3. Targeting emerging markets and first-time smartphone buyers, both handsets are equipped with modest hardware.
If you recently picked up an LG G3 and are looking for an easy way to root your shiny new smartphone, then look no further than Stump Root. Created by a talented group of XDA members this app works with just about every version of LG’s new flagship phone and is a cinch to use.
The Korea Times is reporting that LG is planning to show off a successor to its G Watch wearable at IFA next month. The report, citing an unnamed LG official, claims that the device will go by the LG G Watch 2 moniker and be more high-end than the current generation G Watch. LG is reportedly planning to market the device as a competitor to Apple’s supposed, still unannounced iWatch.
After a brief run with Verizon, the LG G Vista is coming to AT&T on August 22nd for $50 on a two year agreement. As indicated by its budget-friendly price tag, the G Vista isn’t exactly a luxury item. The device features a 5.7-inch HDIPS display, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing shooter, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, a 3,200mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Last month, LG announced the G3 Beat, a mid-range smartphone that was coming to South Korea and Europe. In an effort to expand the device’s appeal, LG recently put together a near three minute promotional short film showing off some of the phone’s best features. Not really a technical showcase, this new handset is pretty much a bogged down version of the company’s flagship G3.

LG may have inadvertently revealed its pen-powered Galaxy Note competitor, however details about the G3 Stylus are still very limited. If you were hoping that the South Korean manufacturer’s large smartphone’s hardware would be on a par with Samsung famous phablet, prepare to be disappointed. According to The Korea Times, the LG G3 Stylus will be more of a budget-friendly handset opposed to a powerful flagship.
AT&T announced today that it will offer the LG G Pad 7.0 LTE for 99 cents with the purchase of an LG G2, G3 or G Flex starting on August 8th. If you opt to skip on the smartphone/tablet bundle, you can purchase the G Pad 7.0 LTE separately for $150 with a two year service agreement or for $12.50 a month via AT&T Next.
Last week, reports started to emerge claiming that the charging contacts on the LG G Watch were causing skin irritation for many users. Dubbed #CorrosionGate, it was clear this issue was going to need to be addressed by LG at some point. Now, the company has started rolling out an OTA update, bumping the software from build number KMV78V to KMV78Y, to address the issue.
