Honor

The Honor Watch Magic smartwatch is essentially a rebrand of the Huawei Watch GT and at a slightly lower price point. That means it includes a somewhat stripped down experience to help increase battery life, but does stripping it back to basics make for a solid experience?
Even though the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro were announced just yesterday with Android Pie in tow, there are two older Huawei-made handsets picking up the update in the form of the Huawei P10 and Honor 8X.
Often when reviewing a smartphone it’s easy — though perhaps lazy — to compare one phone to another in the “X is a Y killer” format. The problem is that this makes it much easier to give you a frame for the performance of a device if you were unaware of the product at all. With that damning verdict in mind, the Honor View 20 is not a OnePlus killer no matter how hard it’s pushed as one.

The Honor View 20 might be on the horizon, but that doesn’t mean that the Huawei-owned company has forgotten about the previous model. Far from it, as Android Pie is now rolling out to the Honor View 10 in the United States.
We can’t blame Apple for the notch trend, especially when the fantastic-yet-ultimately flawed Essential PH-1 had the display nodule before the Cupertino tech giant tampered with its own displays. The Honor View 20, though, is one of a coming wave of devices that are hopefully ridding us of one evil for a slightly lesser one by opting for a punch hole notch or display cutout rather than the previously seen nodule.
Following a brief teaser earlier month, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has officially unveiled its latest smartphone. The new Honor View 20 is one of the first devices from the company to adopt the punch-hole display design, some crazy camera specs, and a spiffy new glass pattern on the back.
The Honor Play, simply put, is a cheap gaming-focused smartphone that looks good and comes in at under $300. Beyond that, it packs in some serious specs and performs superbly for the entry cost. Honor has a good record with making good quality, affordable devices and, to be honest, the Honor Play is no different.
Huawei’s infamous sub-brand Honor had a couple announcements for us at IFA 2018 in Berlin today. The more notable of the pair of announcements was the Honor Magic 2, which is yet another entry in the category of bezel-less smartphones that slide to reveal the necessary camera hardware…
Smartphones that come out of Huawei’s sub-brand Honor come in all shapes and sizes, and today the company is debuting its latest big-screen device. The Honor Note 10 has gone official, delivering a screen the size of a tablet.
Huawei makes some killer Android smartphones, and the P20 family that was unveiled earlier this year are no exception. However, they are quite expensive. Fear not, though, as Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is now delivering the Honor 10 – a phone packed with the best of the P20 in a package nearly half the cost…
When the Honor 6X was unveiled at CES, we were disappointed to see that it would be shipping with a much older version of the company’s Android skin — EMUI 4.1. Although the 6X is a budget handset, it was unfortunate to hear that a phone launched in 2017 would reach customers running Marshmallow. Today, Honor has confirmed that it will begin rolling out the EMUI 5.0/Nougat update to the Honor 6X in March…
At CES 2017 Honor announced the 6X which is the company’s budget device that features mid-tier specs and a $249 price tag. Unfortunately, though, the public’s first reaction to the phone was rather negative mainly because of several aspects of the handset that are a bit outdated. The biggest of which is the fact that Honor is shipping the 6X to customers still running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Thankfully, Honor does promise to update the phone to Nougat (EMUI 5.0) sometime in the second quarter…
At CES 2017, Honor announced its latest budget-friendly device — the Honor 6X. This phone is the successor to last year’s 5X and brings with it some features like a dual-camera setup as seen previously on the Honor 8. While it does share some similarities, the Honor 6X is lacking in specs, software, and hardware…
Last year Honor helped change the game in terms of hardware on budget devices with the Honor 5X, but it wasn’t a perfect device. It lacked a bit in terms of specifications, and the pre-loaded software didn’t help matters. Now, Honor is bringing the successor to that device, the Honor 6X, to the United States.
Android skins from Chinese OEMs have always been pretty bad, and Huawei has always been one of the worst contenders. Despite releasing awesome hardware, it’s always been hard to recommend the company’s devices due to the software. With the release of Nougat, though, things are improving, and now we know when Honor 8 users can expect that update.
After being teased earlier this month, Honor has just made the new Honor Magic smartphone official. The new “concept-to-life” smartphone brings curved glass edges on both sides, a super-thin design, and dual-cameras.
Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has been releasing some fantastic smartphones over the past couple of years ─ just look at the Honor 8. Now, the company is preparing launch yet another new device. Yesterday, the company sent out invitations to a press event in China to reveal a new smartphone, rumored to be the Honor “Magic.”
Update: It was pointed out that this photo is likely fake, created by photoshopping an image of the Galaxy Note 7.
Following the success of the Honor 5X, Huawei’s sub-brand has today officially announced the Honor 6X in China (via Fonearena). Just like the Honor 5X, the 6X packs an all-metal build, mid-range specifications, and much more, all at a very affordable price tag.
In designing the Honor 8, the company wanted to make sure that users would have control over as much of the functionality on the phone as possible. One such example of this is the device’s notifications. Honor 8 has a Settings section that allows the user to change which types of notifications they want to receive on an app-by-app basis, and this quick little guide will help you learn how to use it…
Truecaller and Huawei have today announced (via TechCrunch) that a new partnership between the two companies will bring Truecaller’s caller ID and spam protection to Huawei’s smartphones. This deal applies for devices in regions such as the US, Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia, and India. It will debut on the recently launched Honor 8.
The newly-announced Honor 8 flagship has a lot going for it, and now there’s something else. According to the phone’s Product Manager, Taylor Wimberly, the Honor 8 — and phones that proceed it, apparently — will be getting software updates for a full 24 months after its launch:
From this year we are making a commitment to provide customers with access to new features (at least once every three months during the first 12 months) for up to 24 months following each product launch. We will keep providing access to security and software updates to fix bugs and enhance user experience in a timely manner.
Late last evening Honor announced the Honor 8 for the United States market, and we finally got a chance to go hands-on with the phone. As you may already know, the phone is basically the Huawei P9 on the inside, albeit aimed at millennial consumers and given a completely new external aesthetic. This phone has a glass back, a fingerprint sensor that you can press for app shortcuts, a dual-camera setup, and more…
Huawei-owned Honor has today announced that the phone it announced for China last month — the Honor 8 — is coming to the United States. Following up on the budget Honor 5X that marked the company’s first phone for the US earlier this year, Honor is now introducing a glass-backed phone at a middle-of-the-road price and specs that are definitely on the higher end…
Update 8:19 PT: And it’s live. See below.
Update 8:07 PT: The livestream is supposed to be live, but it’s not.
As we first heard about back in July, Huawei-owned Honor is unveiling its latest smartphone tonight at an event in San Francisco, and we’ve just learned — a mere hour before the event is set to kick off — that the company will be livestreaming the announcement via Facebook Live…
