If you’ve noticed some weird behavior in Google Search today, the company has just confirmed that limited outages are causing “some features” to not work properly while some users are reporting problems with Discover and News.

Generative AI is an incredible tool when it’s used properly, but one big fear is that AI will be used to flood the internet with articles. Despite this, though, Google is reportedly paying some independent publishers fairly large sums of money to publish AI-generated articles on their websites using an AI model that’s not yet been released.

Announced back in June, Tech News on Android is rolling out a redesigned Following feed that provides the “latest updates from the topics, sources and locations you select to follow.”

AI is a powerful tool for good, but it can easily be used for bad, too. As AI duplicates of articles continue to flood Tech News, the company has reiterated that it doesn’t care if an article is AI-generated, as long as it still has “quality.”
