Google Discover

Over the past day, some Google Discover users have been served a “Discover more” recommendations card that prompts them to customize their feeds with more interests. There’s also a home view for topics and tweaked article cards.
The Google app has added a useful share shortcut when viewing Discover articles or Search results on Android. Appearing in the top-right corner, it’s elevated from the browser’s otherwise long overflow menu.
The Google Discover feed is a handy way to keep up on your interests when it comes to news articles or even videos. On some of its self-branded smartphones, however, T-Mobile is now showing its own bloat alongside the Google Discover feed, but not in the way you might think.
In the first major tweak since last September’s rebrand, Google Discover has removed the topic bubbles that appear above every card. This makes for a cleaner and more compact feed, with the tweak rolling out today.
Over the past year, more and more users have spotted ads appearing in Google Discover. At Google Marketing Live today, the company officially announced two types of advertising from Google Ads that can appear in the article feed to the left of Android’s homescreen.
Android users have been clamoring for dark mode support for a couple of years now, and it’s finally starting to happen. This week, one of the most popular third-party launchers, Nova Launcher, has brought over a bit more darkness by supporting Google Discover’s dark theme.
Introduced last year, Google Discover is the company’s latest implementation of the Google Feed. With 800M monthly active users thanks to availability on Android, iOS, and the mobile web, Google is now providing some publishers with traffic data from the source.
Google Doodles appear in a number of prominent places from Google.com to Chrome’s New Tab page. On Android, it appears in the Google app, and now in the Google Discover feed available to the left of the Pixel Launcher.
The Google Feed last year was rebranded to Google Discover with new features and availability on the mobile web. Along with the new name, it includes more types of content, including AMP Stories. Google Discover is now surfacing Posts on Google.
To coincide with the company’s 20th anniversary, Google in September announced big updates to Discover — previously known as the Google Feed. Besides the rebrand and other visual tweaks, it is more interest-based and will feature other types of content. This is beginning to more widely roll out today, along with a proper dark theme for Discover on the Pixel Launcher.

The Google Feed (now Google Discover) may not be the Google Now we once knew and loved, but it’s still an excellent way to find web content directly from your homescreen. Several Android OEMs have adopted the Pixel’s left-most screen to access this feature, but OnePlus hasn’t. That is, until now, as OnePlus 6T Google Discover support is available, sort of.
One of the most notable steps Google took last month to prepare for the next 20 years of Search is Google Discover. A rebrand of the Google Feed, it is part of the company’s efforts to surface information without users actively having to ask for it. Google Discover is now beginning to roll out in google.com on mobile devices.
Back in May, Google began displaying ads in the Google Feed for a small number of users. Following the rebrand to Google Discover last month, some are beginning to see ads in the feed again.
For the past several months, Google has been experimenting with a redesign to the Google Feed. Following reports last week of a rebrand, Google today confirmed that it’s now called “Google Discover” and is coming to the mobile web, along with a slew of other new features.
