Google just announced a new AI mode for shopping with two big new features. The AI Mode will give users the option to try clothes on virtually, and if it’s a fit, the AI model will buy them for you.

Besides Meet Speech Translation, Google announced a slew of new Workspace features at I/O 2025 across Gmail (like personalized smart replies), Docs, and Vids.

At I/O 2025, Google announced that Meet is getting real-time Speech Translation capability that’s like having an actual human interpreter in the call. 

As previewed in December, Project Mariner is Google DeepMind’s research prototype exploring the “future of human-agent interaction, starting with browsers.” Google AI Ultra subscribers now have access to Project Mariner, while the browser agent capabilities are coming to the Gemini app and Search.

Google is bringing Gemini and Gemini Live to Chrome for Mac and Windows. The initial launch lets you ask questions about a page, while future versions will be able to navigate the web and take other actions on your behalf.

At I/O 2025, Google announced a slew of updates for the Gemini app, including the launch of 2.5 Flash and Gemini Live camera and screen sharing for iOS.

The technology powering Gemini Live’s camera and screen sharing is called Project Astra. It’s available as an Android app for trusted testers, and Google today unveiled agentic capabilities for Project Astra, including how it can control your Android phone.

To date, AI Premium is how you access the latest features from Google. At I/O 2025, that subscription tier is being renamed to “Google AI Pro,” while we’re getting “Google AI Ultra” for $249.99 per month.

Following a prompt bar redesign, as well as model picker simplification, on Android and iOS over the weekend, the Gemini app is beginning to roll out chat search.

Since December, Google has been testing a Gemini-powered upgrade for Assistant on some Nest speakers. The Nest Audio is now using the Gemini colors, which raises some interesting branding questions.

Following the web redesign and other changes, Google is introducing a new prompt bar for the Gemini app on Android and iOS.

As we spotted earlier this week, Google is widely rolling out an update to the Gemini model picker that also changes how you access Deep Research.

During its “Brandcast” this week, YouTube revealed a new strategy to insert ads into videos which will leverage AI to put those ads into the most important parts of a video.

After changing the descriptions last week, Google is now updating the Gemini app’s model picker on the web.

Google Gemini has become the go-to default AI assistant for Android devices, and even though Android phones have recently integrated Gemini, earbuds from certain brands have been left out. According to Samsung and Google, that’s going to change rather soon with Gemini for Galaxy Buds 3 and Sony earbuds.

Google TV is going to see a significant shift in the coming months. Instead of the Google Assistant users have been used to interacting with for basic needs, Gemini will be the new AI helper. Gemini’s integration will be similar to what’s seen on Android devices, though it’ll be tuned for entertainment and education.

As expected, Google is bringing Gemini to Android Auto and Android Automotive starting “in the coming months,” and there’s an early preview of what it will be capable of.

In addition to Android 16, Wear OS 6 is coming and will feature a Material 3 Expressive redesign. Besides major visual changes, Gemini is coming to Wear OS.

New Gemini app features eventually make their way to Google’s enterprise accounts, but it’s usually long after the consumer rollout. Google announced today Gemini Live is finally coming to Workspace customers.

The Gemini developments continue this week with 2.5 Flash and 2.5 Pro going from “experimental” to “preview” status in the app.
