Security systems have been around for a long time now, but for many, they’re still overly complicated, overly expensive, and not as well integrated with the new wave of smart home products. ADT, one of the biggest names in home security, has been on a mission to change that and after a false start in 2023, the new ADT+ system is a huge upgrade, especially for those in Google’s Nest ecosystem.

Following the death of Nest Secure, strong integration between ADT and Google promised to be a replacement. The original system wasn’t, but now that we’ve had a chance to try the new one, we’re glad to see that ADT now supports proper Google Home integration.

Following the transition to Google Home in recent years, Google has seemingly forgotten about the wonderful Nest x Yale smart door lock, and now that lock is being forgotten yet again with the debut of ADT’s new security system and integrations.

ADT is launching a new security system, its second with with Google Nest integration, which revives a couple of Nest Secure hardware features, starts at $269, and sets the stage for some big new features to come.

Ahead of new features (and hardware), ADT has updated its ADT+ app with better support for Nest camera feeds and some design upgrades.

Google and ADT are preparing to take their smart home and security partnership to the next level with “Trusted Neighbor,” a supercharged method of guest access that will allow users to automate when trusted contacts can enter their home using smart home devices and more.

As we approach the end of Nest Secure, ADT seems to be slowly ramping up towards a new system in its partnership with Google Nest which has now leaked for a second time.

After years of waiting, ADT and Google finally announced their Nest-integrated security system, but with a hefty subscription for monitoring features. Thankfully, you’ll be able to forgo those fees if you want and use existing hardware too.

Nearly three years after the two companies first announced a partnership, we’re finally seeing Google and ADT debut the product that makes it worth it. “ADT Self Setup” is a new do-it-yourself security system that includes a bunch of new security gear from ADT that deeply integrates with Google Nest products.

At CES 2023, the trusted home security company ADT announced a new app, ADT+, that makes it easy for customers to install and manage their own systems, including support for Nest Cams and Thermostats.

In August of 2020, Google announced a $450 million partnership with ADT and is now committing another $150 million. Meanwhile, the security company is now partnering with insurance provider State Farm.

In late 2020, Google announced a massive long-term partnership with renowned home security company ADT, and now, we’re seeing the first part of that deal come to fruition. More ADT security systems now work with Google Assistant, and ADT is now selling select Nest gear.

Back in August, Google announced a security-focused strategic partnership with ADT to “create the next generation of the helpful home.” CEO Jim DeVries told CNBC yesterday that ADT will “roll out with Google products in the third quarter of 2021.”
