When Android Wear 2.0 was released, it had improvements across the board, but it also came with its own version of the Play Store so that users could easily download and use apps on their wrist. The thing is, applications built for Android Wear just aren’t that great, at least, not yet. So, if you have a smartwatch, do you own it mainly so you can check notifications or so that you can run applications?

According to a tweet from the Android Twitter account this morning, Google is set to finally reveal what the “N” in Android N stands for today. The Android team told us a few weeks ago that we would be getting the Android N name in a “few weeks,” so this isn’t the most unexpected announcement considering it has been right at 21 days since.
This comes as we’re just over 2 weeks since the release of the fourth Android N Developer Preview, and we have one more preview to go before the final release. Huawei today announced two new flagship smartphones for several countries outside the US, namely the P9 and P9 Plus. The two phones, while obviously pulling a lot design-wise from Huawei’s previous Nexus 6P, are definitely attractive offerings from the up-and-coming Chinese manufacturer. And with it comes a definitely flagship-level spec sheet including 64-bit Kirin processors, a powerful set of cameras (including a Leica dual-camera set up), and a respectable price point.

While Google surprised us all by releasing the Android N developer preview last week, it hasn’t seen fit to announce a name for the software yet. Of course, that could simply be because it hasn’t thought up a name. After all, it didn’t see fit to finally confirm that Android 6.0’s ‘Tasty Treat’ name would be Marshmallow until late August last year, a couple of months after the dev preview dropped at Google I/O 2015.
It goes without saying that the Samsung Galaxy S7 (and the S7 edge) and the LG G5 were the two big announcements today at Mobile World Congress 2016 press day, showcasing the best that these two Android OEMs have to offer. Two of the original team members behind Google Glass have insisted that the device still has a future for consumers, despite the company now pitching it exclusively at the enterprise market.
In an interview at the Computer History Museum, Thad Starner, a professor at Georgia Tech and a technical lead on Glass, and Greg Priest-Dorman, a systems administrator at Google X, said that the press had “misunderstood and overpromised” what Google was trying to achieve, reports Re/code …

A Nielsen study (via TechCrunch) reveals that while we all spend much longer using mobile apps than we did two years ago, and we may have many more apps installed on our phones, the average number of apps we actually interact with in any given month hasn’t changed nearly as much.
While time spent using mobile apps climbed from 18h 18m in 2011 to 30h 15m by the end of last year, the total number of apps actually used only increased from 23.3 to 26.8. So we’re spending more time using pretty much the same number of apps …
