Opinion: The Pixel XL 2 will be my next phone if the leaks are accurate

Each year, a lot of great phones are released. There’s the typical affair from Samsung, a slew of phones from Motorola, LG’s two flagships with the G and V series, and plenty more. They’re all asking us to empty our wallets, and with flagships costing anywhere from $500 to $1000, these purchases don’t come lightly.

A lot of great devices have been announced so far this year and there are plenty more to come. But if the latest renders for the Pixel XL 2 that were released earlier today are accurate, I can say with near absolute certainty that it will be my next phone…

Google is works on a number of different products and services, but no matter what project the company takes on, its biggest involvement is, and could always be, its search engine. Chrome Android logo

Chrome’s auto-suggest feature for copied links is now available to all Android users

Google Chrome is one of the most powerful and feature-rich browsers on the Play Store, and as you’d probably expect, Google regularly throws in little additions here and there to make the app as useful as it can possibly be. We previously found a helpful little feature in the developer options in Chrome Dev 60, and it now looks like said feature is making its way to all users running stable versions of Chrome 59.

Sharp Aquos S2 leaks show off a bezel-less display with a fingerprint sensor underneath

One of the biggest trends so far throughout 2017 has been bezel-less displays. LG first kicked this off with the G6, Samsung followed with the Galaxy S8/S8+, and Andy Rubin’s noticeably delayed Essential Phone also debuted with this design. The latest smartphone to enter the scene with a big display and minimal bezels is the Sharp Aquos S2, and along with its large display canvas, there’s also a futuristic trick hiding below it – a fingerprint scanner.

Comment: The Moto Z2 Force is yet another example of Motorola not listening to its fans

Motorola’s had quite the busy year so far in 2017. It released two new additions to its ultra-popular Moto G line, revived the Moto E with the E4 and E4 Plus, kicked out the Z2 Play, and also introduced the Moto C and Moto M in countries outside of the US. Today marked the announcement of the Moto Z2 Force, and while the phone on its own looks fairly solid, it’s another perfect example of Motorola not listening to its customers. It’s a story we’ve seen before, and it’s one that I’m personally not a fan of in the slightest.

Comment: Chromecast has completely changed living room entertainment in 4 short years

Exactly 4 years ago today, Google officially unveiled Chromecast to the world. The accessory was marketed as a tiny HDMI dongle that we were supposed to plug into our TVs in order to more easily watch YouTube and Netflix videos, as well as to stream Chrome tabs to the big screen from our computers. Chromecast was a breed all of its own, and as funky and weird as it was back in 2013, it’s rapidly changed the way that millions of people consume media…

Nokia 8 gets shown off in a shiny new copper color

Nokia is a name that hasn’t existed in the Android world for very long. Not counting the Nokia X that ran a heavily modified version of the Android OS, the first real Android-powered Nokia phones launched earlier this year in the forms of the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6. We’re expecting the Nokia 8 – the true flagship of these phones – to be announced later this year, and thanks to some hands-on photos on Baidu, we’ve got a new look at the phone in a brand new color.

Samsung reported to launch Bixby-powered AirPods competitor alongside Galaxy Note 8

Since the announcement of Bixby at Samsung’s Galaxy S8 event in February, critics and consumers alike have had mixed feelings about the company’s new AI. There are some things that Bixby is good at, and then there are other areas where the assistant falls completely flat.

Bixby is made up of many different layers, but one of its most important is its voice component. Samsung just recently rolled out Bixby Voice features on the Galaxy S8/S8+ in the US following a delay, and according to a new report from ET News, Samsung is now supposedly working on Bixby-powered Bluetooth earbuds that won’t be all that different from Apple’s AirPods.

The Porsche Design Huawei Watch features a sleek design and high price

Pickings for new Android Wear-powered watches have been fairly slim this year, but one of the most notable options is currently the Huawei Watch 2. Announced at Mobile World Congress in February, the Watch 2 and Watch 2 Classic ditched the minimalistic design of the original in favor of a bulkier and fancier or sportier aesthetic (depending on which model you choose).

If the current Huawei Watch 2 designs aren’t catching your attention and you’d like to outfit your wrist with something truly special, Porsche Design just might have the wearable for you with its newly announced Porsche Design Huawei Watch.
