Epic Samsung Galaxy Note 4 cinematic camera test (4K video)

head-thumb

One of the most important components of a smartphone is its camera. Whether you’re shooting video or taking pictures, there’s a certain level of quality needed to capture those precious moments. Let’s face it, most of our lives are documented by the smartphones we carry around, so why not have one with an excellent camera?

As we covered in our full comparison article, the Galaxy Note 4’s camera features some major improvements over its predecessor. Samsung has stepped up the optics, sensor, and quality of the Note 4’s camera and we decided to put it to the test…

note-4-bend-test

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 is beginning to hit stores across the world and the burning question is, will it bend? Well, maybe not for everyone. Samsung originally provided its own bend test as proof that supports the Note 4’s durability, but YouTuber Unbox Therapy decided to take this test into his own hands. Literally…

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 unboxing and first impressions (Video)

Sequence 01 Copy 01.00_01_34_11.Still007

When Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note 4 back at IFA 2014, we were very excited about the new design and improved specifications over the Note 3. As you would expect, Samsung bumped up the internal specs to keep things current with today’s market, but they also made massive improvements to the display and build quality…

Review: Samsung’s Galaxy Alpha is like having TouchWiz in a can (Video)

alpha-lead

When Samsung announced the Galaxy Alpha, I was a bit shocked at first. It was very clear that Samsung was making an attempt to step up its design game a bit. Well, here we are beyond its release and today we’re going to find out what the Galaxy Alpha is all about. It may not be a life changing device, but for Samsung it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

Let me start out by saying that the Galaxy Alpha is bit hard to understand initially. It seems that Samsung didn’t want to put the pedal to the metal, so instead we’re left with what may be considered the best of both worlds, having metal and plastic as main parts of the Alpha’s design. All that aside, one this is very clear: If you know the Samsung Galaxy S5, you already know the Galaxy Alpha, but I don’t think this device was ever meant to shake the industry…

Moto X 2014: Hands-on and first impressions (Video)

header

I’d like to introduce you to what some people are calling the best Android smartphone in 2014. Motorola’s 2014 Moto X is a great looking smartphone that also packs a punch in specifications when compared to its predecessor. Though I can’t call it “the best” at the moment, I’ll let you know how it performs overall in our full review coming up in the future.

Until then, we’re getting hands-on with Motorola’s new flagship and giving you a taste of what it’s all about. There’s no doubt that the second generation Moto X will be a step up over the previous version, but there is one big difference that might keep you away from it…

How to get a steel band for the Moto 360 on the cheap (Video)

ios8.Still066

When the Moto 360 was released, it was very disappointing to find out that the steel band version would be launching at a later date. Unfortunately, we’re still without this mysterious steel version. Motorola has hyped the steel band version since the Moto 360’s announcement, but until its officially released your only option is to buy one that comes with a leather strap.

The gray and black Horween leather straps that come along with the Moto 360 are pretty good, but for myself, nothing is better than a nice steel band. The problem is, Motorola has somewhat of a proprietary design with the straps that ship with the Moto 360 and if you want to pickup an official steel band when it’s released, be ready to pay $79.99. Luckily, there’s one steel strap in the wild that just happens to fit it perfectly…

Moto 360 review: The best Android Wear smartwatch currently available

moto-360-review-header

What can I say about the Moto 360 that hasn’t already been said about every other Android Wear smartwatch on the market? Luckily, there’s quite a bit. First off, if you’re not familiar with Android Wear, this brief review may not make a lot of sense to you, so I’d recommend reading our Android Wear review to get caught up on things.

The Moto 360 is the smartwatch we’ve all been waiting for this year. I wear this thing everywhere. I suppose Android Wear’s functionality has a lot to do with my love for it, but the Moto 360 packs charm all on its own. Enough with the small talk, let’s get into the review…

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 4 was one of the major announcements during this year’s IFA show in Berlin. The new smartphone sports a fanatically durable design with a metal frame that gives it a very premium look. Overall, this is the phablet to buy in 2014, but how does it compare to its predecessor? Let’s find out in our Galaxy Note 4 vs Galaxy Note 3 spec comparison…

Samsung Galaxy Alpha: Hands-on and first impressions (Video)

galaxy-alpha

Samsung recently announced the Note 4 which sports a new premium design with a metal frame, but before that came the metal-framed Galaxy Alpha. This device flew under the radar for many because it was announced at a very random press event in Russia last month. Unfortunately, the only way I can describe this device is being, “Samsung’s iPhone.” That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it seriously looks like an iPhone…

Hands-on with Sony’s Android Wear-powered SmartWatch 3 (Video)

Screen Shot 2014-09-06 at 7.47.49 AM

It looks like Sony has given up on its old smartwatch ways. As we confirmed days before its announcement, the Sony SmartWatch 3 is running Android Wear and has been given a slightly different (and simple) design when compared to its predecessors. While Android Wear is a solid wearable platform, for Sony fans the SmartWatch 3 may be a step backwards…

Hands-on with the Sony Xperia Z3 (Video)

z3

Today we’re taking a closer look at the Sony Xperia Z3. Sony announced the Z3 and a handful of other products (we previously revealed) at a press event during IFA 2014 in Berlin. Now I know what you’re thinking, didn’t Sony just launch the Z2 earlier this year? Yes they did….

The good news is, any Z2 owners won’t need to regret the purchase because there’s nothing special here. The Xperia Z3 is finally launching without a delay in the US, but it’s coming to T-Mobile first. Either way, this is more of an Xperia Z2.5 if anything, but take a look at our hands-on video below…

LG G Watch R: Hands-on and first impressions (Video)

Sequence 02.Still001

LG recently unveiled its latest smartwatch, the G Watch R. This is the first Android Wear device with a full circle display, because as some of you may know, the Moto 360 has a “flat tire” due to the sensors located at the bottom side of the face. The good news is, the G Watch R is just as premium as the Moto 360, and in my opinion, possibly better…

Motorola’s Yo-based Moto 360 giveaway went exactly as planned

moto-yo-contest

Motorola recently concluded a giveaway for its upcoming Moto 360. The giveaway was a collaboration between Motorola and Yo app which was announced yesterday with a very simple rule. First, download and install Yo on your device, then send Motorola a Yo and wait until Aug. 28, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. CT. Easy enough, right?

Motorola would then send a Yo link to all entrants and the first 20 people to click the link would win a Moto 360. Well, that’s kind of how it seemed, but that wasn’t actually the case. Motorola successfully sent a Yo link to all who initially entered, but it was a bit more complicated than just clicking a link.
