Google TV recently announced a major update with Gemini integration, and Epson is going to be a big part of that as one of the first projector manufacturers to bring Gemini to the big screen.
Google TV’s Gemini update goes well beyond the voice assistant of choice. Integration runs deep, with certain TV models able to coordinate hardware changes like sound and brightness with commands through Google’s AI assistant. The update also brings the ability to search through Google Photos and even edit those photos using Nano Banana.
According to Epson, the Lifestudio projector line will be one of the first projector series to get Google’s Geminin update for Google TV. With that, the company notes that a few features will be introduced to select models.
Epson says the Gemini assistant will be available rather than Google Assistant, and all of the contextual conversation abilities that Google notes it can take advantage of. Beyond that, smart home control should be expanding to reflect some of the changes Google TV with Gemini has made recently.
Interestingly enough, there’s no mention of hardware integration that Google showed off, like being able to control hardware brightness or sound levels with a simple query. The release also made no mention of Google’s photo editing updates that use Nano Banana.
Time will tell what the update fully entails, and Epson notes that the short-throw Lifestudio Grand Projector will support Google TV with Gemini first, though that’s a couple of months out. After that, more models will see an update.
