YouTube is listening to feedback and officially launching “Recap,” its own take on Spotify’s popular Wrapped, which will walk you through a recap of your past year using the platform.
Rolling out starting today, YouTube “Recap” will use your watch history from the past year to develop up to 12 cards that highlight things such as your favorite channels, topics, and your viewing habits.
The format is inspired by the popular Spotify Wrapped recap that the music streaming app rolls out for music listening. YouTube Music has its own version that started rolling out last week, but big voices in the YouTube community such as Hank Green and Marques Brownlee have been pushing for YouTube to do the same thing for video.
YouTube says:
YouTube Recap uniquely highlights interests, deep dives, and moments you explored this year, based on your watch history. The “Recap” on YouTube will also include music if you “listened to a lot of music this year.”
At the end, you’re also assigned a “personality” to reflect your

YouTube says that “Recap” is rolling out starting today to users in North America, and will expand worldwide “this week” based in part on language. The feature will show up in mobile apps on the “Home” or “You” tabs, while desktop users will be able to access it at youtube.com/recap when it’s available on their account. For mobile, you’ll need to be on YouTube v18.43 or higher for both Android and iOS.
