Google releases its ‘Google Sans Flex’ font to the public

Google has released its Sans Flex font freely for download, allowing anyone to use the font that’s found on many Google products.

Through the Google Fonts website, Google Sans Flex is now available for download. This is the font you’ll find across Google products, including on Pixel phones in some areas of the software. This is also the font used as the base of the “Rounded” variant used in Material 3 Expressive. It was first released in 2023.

By Google’s description:

Google Sans Flex is the next generation of Google’s brand typeface.

Google adds that this is a “font which allows the font’s letterforms to shape-shift at different scales.”

Google Sans Flex is available under the Open Font License, meaning developers and really anyone else can use it as they wish. It will likely take time to see this used broadly, but the Inware app has already added support for using Google Sans Flex.
