Set Calling Cards on Android are wonderful for personalized contacts, but what may be better is setting your own Calling Card that shows up on other devices when you call others. That might be in the works, according to one insight report.
Calling Cards rolled out in mid-2025 to the Google Phone app alongside Material 3 Expressive changes. Namely, it fit Google’s Pixel series as an abundance of other design changes were being made. The tool allows users to set personalized backgrounds for incoming callers on a local level. It’s done in the same way one would set a profile photo for an important contact.
The one-way system might be just the start of the Phone app’s Calling Cards, as a report indicates that Google may make it possible for users to set their own background, and possibly profile image (via Android Authority). The card would then appear on the device of whoever is being called, or whoever is calling you, so long as they’re using the right device.
The feature would, presumably, work like a social media or account profile photo, wherein it’s no longer restricted to local instances.
The new setting appears in the Phone app, version 197.0.821392025-publicbeta-pixel. The unreleased beta build adds a “My calling card” section with a create button next to it. It’s unclear how the feature will work at this early stage.

We don’t know if users will be able to set both background and profile photos in the calling card. The function may work across Android as long as the Google Phone app is being used. With a tied Google Account, it’s possible that users will be able to set their own calling cards that appear when phone calls are taken via Google Phone.
The nature of this discovery means there’s no telling when/if the feature will come to users on Android. If it rolls out, the idea of a “calling card” would make a bigger impact if it were actually determined by the caller.
