As previewed last month, activating the Gemini overlay in Chrome for Android now lets you quickly Summarize pages.
This “Summarize page” chip joins the existing “Share screen with Live” and “Ask about page” above the Gemini prompt bar. A delightful red, yellow, green, and blue wave radiates out after selecting, with the summary appearing as a floating window that you can expand or ask follow-up questions to.
Behind-the-scenes, page summaries appear to always use 2.5 Flash even if you have 2.5 Pro set in the Gemini app. Meanwhile, the prompt is as follows: “Please provide a summary using the text of this web page. Be concise but thorough, addressing key points in easy to understand language.” You can see that by opening the full app.

The new shortcut appears when you’re in Chrome or viewing a Chrome Custom Tab, including Discover articles, Search results, and the Tech News app.
Gemini has long supported webpage summaries (with Google Assistant before Gemini on the Pixel 8 series also offering), but it required manually pasting a link.
This feature was announced alongside Gemini in Chrome for Mac and Windows for free US users last month. We’re seeing Gemini’s Summarize page for Chrome on Android with both the stable and beta Google app today.
