OnePlus Android 16 release gets lively, but brief tease days before launch

OnePlus is getting fans ready for its OxygenOS 16 launch based on Android 16. The company’s latest teaser emphasizes just how “fast” and “smooth” the software update is.

On Threads, OnePlus posted a 15-second clip about OxygenOS 16. The OS is supposed to launch on October 16, so the company is trying to drum up some excitement.

The video doesn’t show much in the way of new features. We know that Mind Space is getting a new Gemini integration, though details are limited on that. During the few shots of OxygenOS 16 in the video, Mind Space can be seen across swipes. The app doesn’t look to tease any of Google’s AI model on-device.

The phrase “So fast. So Smooth.” appears on screen at the end of the video, and that’s essentially what the teaser is trying to convey. Quick swipes across the screen of what might be the OnePlus 15 can be seen among clips of someone going to town on a keyboard. The flat display and boxier frame seem to indicate that OnePlus might be using its new phone to tease the new software – go figure.

Plenty of other apps are shown in the clip, though nothing seems to stand out as inherently new or breaking. It’s simply a tease of how fluid Android 16 will be on OnePlus devices.

OnePlus previously confirmed that several generations will see an update to OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16. That includes the OnePlus 13, 13R, 13T, and Open. You can find the full list of OxygenOS 16 supported devices here.
