Galaxy Watch users are reporting en masse that they’re suddenly good sleepers

For many, Galaxy Watch’s sleep scores are suddenly increasing, with users reporting that they’ve made no habit changes. The odd behavior is only made stranger by the volume of user complaints.

One UI 8 for the Galaxy Watch was built heavily on fitness tracking improvements for the wearable series. One of the main focuses of the upgrade includes changes to the Sleep feature set with a new Bedtime Guidance addition. Sleep Scores remain a massive part of that suite, but they’re on a strange trajectory.

Reports have been appearing under a post on Reddit that shines a light on an odd trend (via Android Authority). According to the author, their Galaxy Watch Sleep Score has maintained a constant 99/100 for several days on end. On one single night did they score something lower, but the week’s readings still hit record highs.

The report stated that their normal Sleep Score hovered around the 80s or low 90s, but never as high as 99. With that, it was noted that no behavioral or habitual changes were made.

Unfortunately it keeps counting "naps" for me that aren't actually naps. Also I am disabled and can't move around as much as I would like to. Wish there was a way to enter that information in.

This isn’t a one-off. A number of comments in that same thread found the same sleep trend to be accurate for themselves using the Galaxy Watch. Some users scored 100/100 after adding a one-hour nap to a 99/100 night.

The common sentiment seems to be that these users have never hit 99/100, and suddenly, many are in the same few nights. It doesn’t appear that this is happening on a specific version of One UI, Galaxy Watch model, or region.

The Galaxy Watch series has been less than accurate in some regards, but the Sleep Score feature seems to be based on evidence over a long period of time, with little room for error. That’s especially true if interpretation is accounted for. Still, a sudden set of high-scoring nights for enough people to be concerned is an interesting phenomenon.

Are you getting oddly high scores with no changes from your Galaxy Watch?
