Following last week’s big Google Translate update, Circle to Search on Android is now adding “Scroll and translate.”
After tapping the translate button in the Circle to Search panel at the bottom, Google will show a wide “Scroll and translate” button in addition to the language picker at the top. Your current screen is already translated at this point.
This ability to “translate as you scroll” means you no longer have to “restart the translation process every time you scrolled or the content on the screen changed” for a much more seamless and time-saving workflow.
Besides letting you see continuous translations as you scroll a webpage or feed, Google says you can switch apps and “text will continue to translate, so there’s no interruption.”
As this is happening, you’ll get a glow around the perimeter of your screen and a pill noting what language Google is translating to. Tap the ‘x’ to end the experience.
This is beginning to roll out on Android “this week.” Of note is how Google says this is first coming to “select Samsung Galaxy devices.” A handful of new devices were announced today, but it’s odd this wasn’t announced yesterday with the other new Android features.
