The Pixel 10 series is here, and while Google’s latest smartphones might look pretty familiar to their respective predecessors, there’s plenty new under the hood. And while Tensor G5 might be the story for some enthusiasts, proper Qi2 support is undoubtedly one of the most exciting changes — though, depending on which phone you buy, it comes with its fair share of limitations.
Google’s entire 2025 lineup now has magnets built in for Pixelsnap, the company’s name for its Qi2-based accessory series, but that doesn’t mean all four devices are built equally. While the Pixel 10 Pro XL includes support for Qi2.2 and its newer, faster 25W charging speeds, the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold are all stuck with an older, slower 15W rate. While it’s unclear if the entire series technically supports Qi2.2, the end result is the same: less powerful wireless charging for everyone but XL owners.
While that might be disappointing to some, it’s tough to say Google is behind the competition here. Qi2.2 was only released earlier this year, meaning the “Qi2 Ready” Galaxy S25 Ultra is similarly stuck at 15W while simultaneously lacking native magnetic support. Presumably, the restrictions on Google’s smaller and/or foldable devices has to do with heat and efficiency concerns, and not a specific limitation designed to push fans to a more expensive device. After all, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the most expensive device in the lineup.
If you’re looking for the fastest Pixel charging experience available, though, you’ll have to stick with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Not only does it include 25W wireless support, but the device is designed to charge at rates “up to” 45W. Google can be tricky with its charging rates, often listing speeds faster than what’s achieved in practice, but with Pixelsnap support and that new Flex Dual Port charger, it’s still a big year for power upgrades.
