Sling TV, a streaming alternative to cable, is introducing a much more affordable way to access its service with new “Day Pass” subscriptions that start at just $5.
Available now, Sling TV “Day Pass,” “Weekend Pass,” and “Week Pass” tiers allow users to subscribe for much shorter periods of time and, in turn, pay less to use Sling TV. The starting price is just $4.99 for a day of access, $9.99 for a weekend (3 days), or $14.99 for a week (7 days).
These new passes are available for the Sling Orange plan, which is focused on “Sports & Family” channels.
In other words, these plans are essentially designed for viewers who just want to have access to “the big game” for a few days, but won’t end up using the subscription in the long term. By contrast, a full month of Sling Orange costs $45.99. It’s cheaper per day, but not if you just need a single weekend’s worth of access.
Sling breaks down its plans:

As Variety notes, this is Sling’s “most aggressive play” in the live TV streaming space, as this offering isn’t matched by the likes of Hulu, Fubo, YouTube TV, and others. Viewers can further add on “Sports, News, Entertainment, Hollywood, Lifestyle, Heartland, or Kids” extras to add a few more channels for an extra $1, $2, or $3 on each of the new passes, respectively.
What do you think of these new plans?
