Samsung launches the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE for $899

The Galaxy Z series has long since been a little out of reach for consumers, placing the devices in the higher price range. What Samsung has done is finally bring one of its foldable devices within arm’s reach by creating an FE model. The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is officially a reality.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is technically a counterpart to the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The two phones share many similarities, but the FE model trims some of the fat off of the full-fledged version, leaving the user with a lot of good and very few extras. That being said, there are cut corners, and that’ll become clear.

Samsung opted to give the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE an Exynos 2400 SoC with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. The more expensive Galaxy Z Flip 7 operates on the same chipset, though the phone gets a little more memory.

The internal display is the standard 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X panel Samsung has been using, but the Flip 7 FE makes use of a smaller cover screen in comparison. The outer screen takes up the same footprint as the Flip 6, which isn’t going to be a deal breaker for a less expensive device. A full cover screen is new to Samsung, though they’re opting to save it for the premium device.

The Flip 7 FE is also getting a slightly smaller battery. The cell measures 4,000mAh. That’s 300mAh less than the Flip 7, but it’s not going to make a massive difference in day-to-day use. Samsung did include fast charging at 25W and Fast Wireless Charging 2.0.

There are two main sensors on the back of the phone. A 50MP main shooter will be the primary camera, and Samsung’s 12MP ultra-wide will accompany it. No telephoto lens will be available for the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.

The phone will also debut on Android 16. The same goes for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, as well. This is the first time Samsung is releasing a new OS during an Unpacked event where foldables are being announced. The change is welcome, and it means One UI 8 might be closer than we expect.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE will come in both Black and White colorways, starting at $899. All three devices are available for pre-order from Samsung’s online website. Using our links will get you a $50 credit that’s good for 30 minutes after leaving. With that, Samsung is also offering boosted trade-ins and free upgraded storage if you pre-order.
