Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 looks slim and sleek in first hands-on leak

You might feel like Samsung’s upcoming slate of foldables couldn’t possibly leak anymore than they already have, but you’d be wrong. We’re getting our first hands-on images of a real-world Galaxy Z Fold 7 today, and it’s looking as promising as expected.

New images of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 come to us courtesy of leaker @Jukanlosreve. As we’ve seen in earlier renders, Samsung’s next-gen foldable pairs last year’s redesign with a larger, slimmer chassis, bringing its design more in line with hardware from rivals like Google and Oppo. While we don’t get a glimpse of either display in action — paper protectors cover each panel — the second shot showcasing someone’s hand just along the edges of the photo sure looks like a larger foldable than Samsung’s offered in the past.

These images provide a couple of other details too, including our first real-world look at just how slim Samsung’s new chassis really is. In addition to one of the Z Fold 7’s microphones, we can see one of the phone’s speakers and its SIM tray, the latter of which just barely squeezes into the metal frame.

The other big visual change compared to its predecessors comes via the camera array. After incorporating camera rings around each lens on both the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the S25 series, Samsung appears to be moving back towards a ring-less design. While previous renders also included this detail, there’s something immediately striking about seeing a real-world unit. Personally, the striking silver bezels appear practically unfinished here — it’s certainly something I’d have to get used to over time.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the “Blue Shadow” colorway here as well, which appears beautifully saturated and stands in stark contrast to the colors Samsung chose for the S25 series earlier this year. We’re still waiting to see what that Samsung.com-exclusive “Green Mint” shade looks like, but compared to something like “Titanium Silverblue,” I’m all in on this look.

Samsung takes the stage in New York City for its latest Unpacked next Wednesday, July 9th, but the company’s already opened reservations for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, complete with a $50 credit when you pre-order and up to $1,150+ in savings. Reservations are free, and there’s no obligation to actually buy a device if you sign up, but there’s no other time you can get that $50 credit (which can go towards the Galaxy Watch 8), 3x reward points, and other perks.
