Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 is reportedly going to come with a cover display that actually fills the entire panel, according to new leaks.
The last couple of years have seen a war between Motorola and Samsung. The two have been working to develop a clamshell foldable that offers the best experience, and Motorola has gained a few brownie points for offering a full-size cover display, unlike Samsung.
The latest leaks offer a different story for the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The phone may actually come with a cover display that fills the entire top half of the phone (via Android Headlines). The leaked renders show off a display that extends past the two camera lenses, which hasn’t been the case in the past.
Samsung’s previous Z Flip models have had displays that simply fill up the middle portion of the top panel. Motorola, at the same time, offered the Razr Ultra with a full cover display that was capable of running full Android apps with relative ease.
Even if Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a full cover display and the leak is accurate, there is another conversation to be had about running third-party apps, as the phones have been limited to proprietary programs by default.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 also looks to be slightly thinner than previous versions, though there is little difference, if any. It doesn’t come in as thin as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, though it would have been a nice touch if Samsung had launched two ultra-thin foldable phones. For now, a bigger cover display might be enough.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 will likely launch alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 on July 9.
Another leak today shows off the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s super-thin design, and the same colors as the Flip.
