Google was supposed to hold an exclusive early preview event later this month, but the company has canceled the Superfans event that was expected to offer a preview of the Pixel 10.
It came as a surprise that Google was hosting an event in late June to show off “upcoming devices,” as the early date was over a month before the expected launch of the Pixel 10 series. That triggered some speculation about the release date that quickly turned out to be false, as multiple reports have now pinned down a mid-to-late August unveiling.
But Google has now just canceled that June event altogether.
Messages being sent out to Superfans cite “unforeseen circumstances” that have forced Google to withdraw invitations to the “Pixel Penthouse” event. The message reads as follows (via Android Authority):
While we’re no longer able to extend invitations to the Pixel Penthouse event due to unforeseen circumstances, we’re excited to offer you an exclusive alternative prize: an early invitation to our next event, Pixel Superfans Insider Event, on September 4th.
Google’s consolation prize is a second event, a “Pixel Superfans Insider Event,” which will take place on September 4, a ways after the new phones have launched.
