Google rolls out Gemini Live camera and screen sharing to everyone

In addition to the Veo 3 expansion today, Google confirmed that Gemini Live camera and screen sharing is now available to all Android and iOS users.

Camera and screen sharing powered by Project Astra started rolling out in March after Google first teased it at I/O 2024. It first became available on the Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25 series, with Gemini Advanced subscribers getting it after that.

In mid-April, Google said it was coming to all free users on Android. At I/O 2025 last week, the iOS expansion was announced.

Today, Google said the “ability to share your camera & screen in Gemini Live is now available to all Gemini users on Android & iOS.” This includes those using the free version of Gemini.

Open the Gemini app on Android or iOS and tap the Live waveform icon in the bottom-right corner of the prompt bar. This takes you to the usual fullscreen interface, with new camera and screen share buttons at the left. On Android, you can also launch the Gemini overlay and tap “Share screen with Live.”

On both platforms, screen sharing requires system-level confirmation. Afterwards, navigate to a website or app that you want Gemini to see and ask your questions. You can tap the top-left corner of your phone to stop streaming, but continue the Gemini Live conversation.

Meanwhile, camera sharing adds a viewfinder to the fullscreen interface. Streaming only works when the Gemini app is open, and will stop if you exit or turn off your display. A button in the corner lets you switch to the front-facing camera.

Looking ahead, Google will let Gemini Live use apps (previously known as Extensions) to take actions like creating a calendar appointment or finding location details. Google Calendar, Keep, Maps, and Tasks are the first supported apps. This will be rolling out in the coming weeks.
