A new leak has revealed Samsung’s Android 16-based One UI 8 update, and it looks like a fairly small update.
While Samsung is still struggling to release its Android 15-based One UI 7 update, already delayed by over six months and now put on pause due to a major bug, the company is working on its Android 16 update (ahead of schedule, at that) which will arrive as One UI 8.
The folks over at SmartPrix have obtained images of One UI 8 running on a Galaxy Z Fold 6, as well as some screenshots of the update, which offer some insight into what the company has planned for the update – it’s not much.
One UI 8 appears to have the same design as One UI 7 in these leaked images, something that’s far from a surprise given Samsung just reworked its entire Android skin with this most recent update. Rather, this update looks like a refinement oppurtunity, with Samsung updating its File Manager and Gallery apps as a couple of examples. Now Brief is also present on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in this leaked build.
Samsung is expected to launch One UI 8 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 later this year. It’s entirely possible that the company will have more in store for the final release, but this certainly looks like a smaller update compared to most.
In the meantime, though, most Galaxy owners are still waiting on One UI 7 to become available to their devices.
