Sony tries to hype up WF-1000XM6 in ominous teaser, confirms Feb 12 launch

Blink, and you might miss it; Sony posted a very short, very dark teaser showing off what looks like the WF-1000XM6 earbuds. The teaser confirms the company will announce the earbuds next week.

This isn’t the first time Sony’s upcoming flagship earbuds have made the news cycle. Just days ago, the WF-1000XM6 earbuds leaked in full visual detail, showing off what appears to be a promising release. That leak was void of technical details, so there’s still a large amount unknown about the release.

Sony is tagging on to those leaks with its own official input. A teaser was posted to the Sony Electronics YouTube channel, though it leaves a lot to the imagination. There’s essentially nothing tying the video to Sony’s WF-1000XM6 earbuds, though the tiniest silhouette of the open earbuds case shows just enough to make a solid connection.

One earbud can just be seen in the case, which is admittedly very sharp compared to previous versions. That earbud profile lines up with the most recent leak, taking on what sort of looks like a Samsung-esque bean shape. The teaser shot also confirms Sony’s design choice in a round, but sharp charging case.

The video ends with Sony confirming the earbuds will be announced on February 12 at 8:00 a.m. PT. No other information is shared in the video, which means we’ll likely have to wait one more week for Sony to divulge what makes the WF-1000XM6 earbuds a valuable upgrade over the previous two models, even though the XM4 buds are still considered a great option.
