Galaxy S26 Qi2 25W wireless charger is a MagSafe puck, hints you’ll still need a case

It’s no secret that the Galaxy S26 series is rumored to add Qi2 magnets to the device itself, but if there was any remaining doubt, a new leak showing off Samsung’s Qi2 25W wireless charging puck should make it abundantly clear – it’s happening. Or is it?

After it first surfaced earlier this year, SamMobile has obtained images of the “Magnet Wireless Charger” Samsung has built for the Galaxy S26, complete with Qi2 25W stamped right on the box. The charger is a puck, just like Google’s Pixelsnap Charger or, more accurately, like Apple’s MagSafe charger.

The difference with Samsung’s is that the puck itself is black, with a braided fabric cable coming out. The puck itself appears rather thin, which may explain the bulky box around the USB-C plug on the other end. That other side includes Qi2 25W branding

The packaging, though, does raise an unfortunate question. Will the Galaxy S26 series actually have magnets built in? In particular, the box says that “For Galaxy phones, ensure you use this Charger with a Qi2-ready case to enable charging,” while adding that “magnetic alignment” is available for “Galaxy S25 Series or later.”

That’s… not exactly confidence boosting.

Samsung says:

This Magnet Wireless Charger is Qi2 certified and is compatible with Qi2 supporting devices. For Galaxy phones, ensure you use this Charger with a Qi2-ready case to enable charging. The magnetic alignment experience is available for Galaxy S25 Series or later models. When paired with an official Samsung 45W Power Adapter or a higher power adapter of 45W (PPS 20V), this Charger provides fast wireless charging up to 25W. Wireless charging speed may vary depending on your device’s wireless charging specifications. Actual charging speed may also vary depending on usage, charging conditions and other factors…

The charger itself looks great, but it’d be pretty unfortunate to see Samsung release a wireless charger that you literally cannot use without a case on the device. Then again, it’s not something the company hasn’t done before.

That said, there are still plenty of rumors supporting the addition of Qi2 magnets inside of the Galaxy S26 series, but we’ll have to wait for something more concrete to know for sure. Samsung’s language here, while not promising, also doesn’t rule it out entirely.
