New reports have surfaced, indicating that the Galaxy S26+ will come with a 6.66-inch display – the mirror image of the model before it.
The Galaxy S25 Edge was a flop, and Samsung knows it. Since the release of the 5.8mm device, Samsung has decisively removed the Galaxy S26 Edge from the upcoming lineup. It was expected that the Galaxy S26 Edge would replace the middle model, adding some depth to the proven trio structure.
Since the Galaxy S26 Edge was received so poorly, Samsung was forced to fill that middle-child spot in the next flagship series. Recent reports suggest the Galaxy S26+ is coming back with very little changed.
According to a report by TheElec, Samsung is going to place the previously dropped device back in the middle, sitting between the base model and Ultra variant. The most notable news is that the Galaxy S26+ is going to carry a 6.66-inch display, with effectively no change from the model before it. This comes as the Galaxy S26 base model is expected to be larger than the Galaxy S25.
The report notes that industry insiders made mention of Samsung’s plans to bring a better OLED display from the Galaxy S26 Edge to the medium model, but decided to pack a panel with similar specs to the version seen in early 2025.
With such a short development period and little time to mass-produce components, Samsung forced itself into a position that leaves the Galaxy S26+ with small changes, while the surrounding models will likely see modest improvements.
It appears the S26+ will undergo mass production this month, while the Ultra model was initiated last month. It also seems as though Samsung is prioritizing the S26 Ultra over the base and S26+ models. After all, the numbers show Samsung wants to produce 3.6 million units of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, while the S26+ and S26 sit just over half a million.
