Over the past couple of years, Google TV has been heavily investing in free-to-watch channels that provide 24/7 content with no charge and no accounts. Now, Google TV Freeplay has over 250 channels available following the addition of quite a lot of new channels in recent months, including several more new local news channels.
Google TV Freeplay – at the time just known as “free channels” – was introduced in 2023. Alongside hundreds more channels available through other apps, the “Live” tab on the homescreen provides access to well over 1,000 channels that users can stream at no cost.
Many of those channels do require installing additional apps, though, with Google TV Freeplay being the built-in method of streaming free & ad-supported channels.
As of December 2025, Google TV Freeplay has passed 250 channels in its own library. Specifically, there are currently 252 channels available, up from 203 as of September 2025. The latest additions to the library (in order of appearance) include:

- Saved By The Bell
- Bravo Vault
- Bravo Real Housewives Vault
- E! Keeping Up
- Bravo Million Dollar Listing Vault
- American Ninja Warrior

- Universal Monsters
- Universal Movies
- Universal Action
- Universal Westerns

As you can see, a lot of the new additions are from NBC Universal, while another big source of growth has come from local news channels. Freeplay has had a catalog of local NBC channels for some time, but many of the newly added news channels fill gaps in areas such as Seattle, Pittsburgh, and Charlotte.
All of these channels are available now on the Google TV homescreen, but they remain exclusive to the United States.
