YouTube testing new ‘Home’ page with more control over suggested content

Google is testing a new feature with YouTube that allows users to customize the recommendations that appear in their “Home” feed, seemingly with some level of AI.

In its latest experiment, YouTube is adding “Your custom feed” to the “Home” page. This allows the user, by YouTube’s description, to “update your existing Home feed recommendations by entering a simple prompt.”

The use of the word “prompt” here implies that AI is being used to some degree, but YouTube hasn’t shared anything about how this looks, so it’s hard to know for certain. Either way, it seems like something that would help users gain a bit more control.

We’re experimenting with a new feature called “Your custom feed,” that lets you customize recommendations for your Home feed. If you are part of the experiment, you will see “Your Custom Feed” appear on your Home page as a chip besides “Home”. When you click into it, you can update your existing Home feed recommendations by entering a simple prompt. This feature is designed to give you an easy-to-use way to have more control over your suggested content. If you see it, check it out and share your feedback!
