The last visual update to the Gemini overlay introduced a four-color glow, and Google now looks to be switching to a fullscreen animation.
At the moment, the pill-shaped Gemini overlay slides up and expands from the bottom of the screen with a red, yellow, green and blue glow around the perimeter. It then switches to all blue before fading out completely.
L-R: Gemini, Circle to Search, CtS Translate

One Android user today is seeing a glow that runs through the perimeter of the screen. Blue is still the predominant color, but there’s also green, red, and yellow. It’s similar to the Gemini Live waveform palette. Some of the waves extend into the center of your screen as it moves. There’s no longer a glow around the Ask Gemini box.
It’s different from the Circle to Search animation that bathes the entire screen, including the center. There are similarities with Circle to Search’s translation animation, while Apple Intelligence/Siri on the iPhone opts for something similar.
This is not yet widely rolled out, with the last update coming in August after the Gemini spark was redesigned.
At I/O 2025 in May, the latest Project Astra demo made use of a persistent blue glow around the perimeter of a Pixel 9 Pro when Gemini was controlling your device and navigating apps. It also uses a chathead.
