Samsung Health adding guided workouts for Galaxy Watch, but with a subscription

One of the big bonuses of Samsung Health, the app you use for tracking workouts and data from Galaxy Watch, is that there’s no monthly cost. Samsung is now adding a subscription to the app, though, but only for new guided workouts that integrate with Galaxy Watch.

Samsung is partnering with iFIT to bring “expert guided workouts” to the Health app. The workouts will be available through the app and Galaxy Watch users will be able to “track session duration, heart rate and calories burned displayed directly from their wrist in real time” during the guided workout. Samsung says these workouts are exclusive to its Health app.

There are seven categories of workouts, including:

  • High-intensity interval training (HIIT)
  • Pilates
  • Yoga
  • Strength
  • Recovery
  • Barre
  • Mindfulness

These new workouts essentially require a subscription, though. Samsung says that Galaxy Watch owners will be able to access one guided workout video per category per month, so seven in total for free each month. After those have been used up, access requires a $9.99/month or $99.99/year subscription.

There are some freebies, though. iFIT workouts will be provided for free for 30 days when buying a Galaxy smartphone, three months with Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, or six months with the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic, or Watch Ultra.

Would you pay for guided workouts in the Samsung Health app?
