Following desktop in July, Chrome for iOS and Android’s New Tab Page now has a shortcut for AI Mode, as well as Incognito.
Chrome simply adds two pill-shaped buttons with accompanying icons underneath the thick “Search Google or type URL” field. This moves down the favicon carousel, Discover feed, and any other cards.
Design-wise, it matches the top portion of the Google app, with the colorful ring design unfortunately abandoned a few months ago for more obvious and explicit options. Chrome tested that ring before landing on this design.
The Incognito shortcut is faster than opening the three-dot overflow menu, though long-pressing the app icon from your homescreen is more direct.

Meanwhile, the other button opens google.com/AI. This joins the Pixel Launcher search or homescreen widget shortcut. On desktop Chrome, the AI Mode shortcut on the New Tab Page is how I primarily launch the experience. It’s pretty useful, with Google also adding AI Mode directly to the Omnibar.
This is rolling out with version 141+ of Chrome for Android and iOS.
