Following Add to Calendar earlier this year, the latest Gemini capability coming to Gmail is “Help me schedule” with Google Calendar.
When composing an email, Gmail will detect when you’re trying to set up a meeting and prominently surface “Help me schedule” in the bottom toolbar.
Tapping will have Gemini suggest ideal times after checking your Google Calendar availability and the email draft for context. If someone asks for an hour next week, Gemini will provide suggestions that take into account that duration and time frame.
You can edit (remove or add) suggestions and insert directly into the message. After the recipient selects a time, a calendar invite is automatically added to both your calendars. At launch, this feature only works for individual contacts and not group meetings.
This Gemini-powered coordination aims to reduce back-and-forth emails.
