Google TV Streamer is an easier buy at $80 in Prime Day sale

The Google TV Streamer 4K may not be the absolute best Android TV box, but it’s a solid set-top box that has become much more enticing as part of Amazon’s Prime Day sale at just $79.99.

Discounts on the Google TV Streamer 4K have historically been rare, making this sale a major event. While other options litter the market, the price rarely budges on this particular streamer. This marks only the third time Amazon has offered a direct discount, but more importantly, it’s on sale again, matching its all-time low price of just $79.99.

This is the best opportunity yet to save significant change if you were in the market for a competent TV companion. The biggest bonus is that you can grab this in both colors, as previous deals have annoyingly been limited to just the Porcelain model.

Here’s a quick overview: The Google TV Streamer 4K launched last summer as a fairly powerful successor to the now-discontinued Chromecast with Google TV (4K). It boasts a new set-top box design and some minor internal hardware upgrades, including a 22% faster processor, double the memory, and 32GB of onboard storage. There is also room for an Ethernet port and a full-sized HDMI port, though sadly, neither of these is included in the box. But considering the Google TV Streamer is on sale for $79.99, you can easily pick up a high-quality HDMI cable and still feel like you got a great deal.

Beyond its marginally enhanced performance, the Streamer delivers stunning 4K HDR video resolution and supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos audio. It also includes a redesigned remote that allows you to use your voice to find shows, get answers, and control smart home devices. Plus, its customizable button lets you quickly open your favorite app or the home panel, and you can even make the remote ring to easily find it when it’s misplaced—a fantastic quality-of-life feature.

As we note, this isn’t the outright best streaming option you can buy, but at $79.99, it’s a stellar product that will be supported for much longer than many of the competition. It’s an outright steal at this price, making it a Prime Day deal you shouldn’t overlook before time runs out. That said, expect more discounts as this floats around the $85-90 on sale at certain times of the year.
