Sony adds Gemini Live to latest headphones, Amazon sale starts at $250

Sony has pushed an update to its latest flagship headphones, the WH-1000XM6, to deliver support for Google’s Gemini Live, and it comes right as a major sale lands.

The Sony WH-1000XM6 launched earlier this year as the company’s latest noise-cancelling over-ear headphones. The pair delivers on improved sound and active noise cancellation, but also brings the welcome return of a foldable design for easier storage.

In their latest update, Sony is now expanding on features.

Firmware version 3.0.0 for Sony WH-1000XM6 delivers support for two key improvements. Firstly, there’s Audio Sharing through Fast Pair, allowing users to connect two pairs of headphones to the same source (namely, an Android phone) to listen to the same audio stream at once. Google announced this feature about a month ago.

Beyond that, Sony is also adding Gemini Live support to WH-1000XM6.

Gemini Live is a core feature of Google’s own Pixel Buds, but it’s expanding elsewhere. Sony has also updated its WF-1000XM5 earbuds with Gemini Live over the past couple of weeks.

This comes at a great time for users, as Amazon’s latest Prime Day sales include huge discounts on used devices. As our sister site 9to5Toys points out, Sony WH-1000XM6 can be purchased at a huge discount this way for as low as $250. Results may vary by color, but if you’re buying from “Amazon Resale” you’ve got a good chance at scoring a discount. Even if you miss that, a brand new pair will also be on sale today. Sony WF-1000XM5 are also pretty heavily discounted right now.
