‘Back Market’ store in NYC will sell used smartphones with Google Fi Wireless plans

If you’re on the hunt for an affordable new phone, you’ll be able to pick up a used device from the “Back Market” store in NYC, which is also the latest physical location in which you’ll be able to get Google Fi Wireless.

“Back Market” is a marketplace for used and refurbished tech including, but not limited to, smartphones. As with most third-party marketplaces, though, it’s been an online-only affair since its inception, but that’s now changing.

Opening in NYC, the first Back Market retail store will sell refurbished tech products while also showcasing “device diagnostics, screen repairs, device cleanings, repair advocacy, and trade-in options that highlight the ongoing value of what people already own.”

As a part of the retail store, customers will also be able to sign up for Google Fi Wireless. Back Market says:

Back Market’s first U.S. store will also be home to Google Fi Wireless. Shoppers can explore flexible, secure and reliable mobile plans that align with Back Market’s mission of smarter, not newer.

This won’t be the first retail store offering Fi, as Google has had a long-standing partnership with Best Buy.

The Back Market retail store won’t be a permanent location, at least for now, but is open now through December 21 at 449 Broadway, New York, NY 10013.
