Xiaomi has just announced its latest trio of flagship phones in China, with the Xiaomi 17 series delivering a new design, rear displays, and battery sizes up to a whopping 7,500 mAh.
Coming to China ahead of an eventual global debut, the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max are the first Android phones with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The three phones all serve different price points, starting with the most affordable in the base Xiaomi 17.
The Xiaomi 17 has a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display, 12GB/16GB of RAM and 256GB/512GB of storage, starting at CNY 4,499 – equivalent to around $630 USD. The phone packs four 50MP cameras, three on the back and one on the front, and has a huge battery. Xiaomi is packing a 7,000 mAh battery inside this phone with 100W charging and 50W wireless charging.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max take things a step further with a new design.
The smaller Xiaomi 17 Pro has the same 6.3-inch display as the base model, but adds a second OLED display on the back. The 2.66-inch display wraps around two of the rear 50MP cameras – a third 50MP rear camera sits under the display, and there’s another 50MP selfie camera – and can be used with personlized wallpapers, “Dynamic Notifications,” and sticky notes. It can also handle media controls and, with a special case (via GSMArena), can play games. Xiaomi 17 Pro has a 6,300 mAh battery and supports up to 1TB of storage, with pricing starting at CNY 4,999.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max takes it all up a notch, packing a 6.9-inch display and a truly huge 7,500 mAh battery.
The rear display on Pro Max is unchanged from the smaller model, with the same 2.66-inch panel and the same features. The only differences between the two sizes include the screen itself and the battery capacity. Even the design is identical The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will start at CNY 5,999.

Last year, the Xiaomi 15 series made its global debut in March, so with today’s early Xiaomi 17 launch in China, we can probably expect a global launch around February, give or take. In China, these phones are available starting on September 27.
