Google TV homescreen redesign goes official as it rolls out to more users [Gallery]

Google has made its new homescreen redesign for Google TV official over the past few days, while also ramping up the rollout to more users.

As we first reported last week, Google TV is getting a slight homescreen redesign. While the bulk of the interface should feel familiar, the new refresh redoes the navigation bar entirely, trading the “For You” tab for “Home” while also putting “Library” and other shortcuts under a new profile menu.

But, when it first surfaced, it wasn’t available to many users.

This week, the rollout appears to be speeding up. We’re seeing reports from TCL and Walmart Onn users that the Google TV homescreen redesign has appeared on their devices. No major updates are required for this, further showing that this is a server-side change.

Beyond that, Google has quietly made this updated design official.

While announcing Gemini for Google TV earlier this week, Google showed off the new homescreen in its promotional materials, and TCL is also showing the new design on images of the QM9K series (the first Google TV set with Gemini and presence sensing). Further, Google is showing the updated design on the official Google TV website (pictured above and below), as noted by AFTV News.

It’s also shown in a video showcasing Gemini.

We’re still not seeing the redesign on our devices, but it seems the rollout is just now picking up steam. Let us know in the comments below if you’re seeing it and, if so, what device you’re using!
