OnePlus is making some changes to accounts for its US users as HeyTap, which previously handled account services, is shutting down services in the US this month.
HeyTap has been running account services for OnePlus for a few years now, and you’ve probably made an account if you’re using a OnePlus Watch or perhaps OnePlus Buds. The OHealth app that those devices use is made by HeyTap.
But, on September 28, HeyTap will be shutting down its services in the United States as the company has notified users of in emails over the past few days.
The email reads in part:
Thank you for your support and trust. Due to our business adjustments, we regret to inform you that HeyTap will officially discontinue its U.S. account services starting September 28, 2025
There’s no mention of OnePlus here, but most US users with HeyTap accounts probably made those accounts through OnePlus apps.
In a post on its forums late last week, OnePlus explains that it is “building something new and more localized for our users in the US” which will include “tailored” services for US users. For the OnePlus Community, this means that users will no longer be able to participate in the global forum, and a dedicated Community app will be launching for US users.
OnePlus explains:
- The current global OnePlus Community forum will no longer be accessible (to login or post) with a U.S. account
- A new U.S.-specific Community forum will be launched along with a dedicated Community app, designed to serve the U.S. Community.
- U.S. accounts will be restricted to login only on the U.S. Community site after 26th September 2025.
- Users living outside the U.S. with an account registered in the US, can continue accessing the global forum by updating their account region
It’s a bit odd that OnePlus hasn’t made any public acknowledgement outside of its forums, or anything specific to the OHealth app, but we don’t have long to wait to figure out if there will be any fallout.
