An apparent partial outage has hit some Google apps and services including Gmail, with the main cause seemingly being login problems.
Update: Google has confirmed the outage, and that it has now been resolved.
We have mitigated an issue where some customers experienced login issues to Google services.
Starting just prior to 11am ET (8am PT), users started reporting outages across Google products including Gmail, Workspace apps, and more. DownDetector shows a huge spike in user reports of outages for Google, Gmail, Workspace, Drive, Cloud, Classroom, and Meet all starting around the same time.
Google has yet to confirm any outage on its Workspace or Cloud dashboards, but user reports point towards the main issue being login problems. In our own testing, Google services are still up and running for our team, though we have noticed issues with trying to log into accounts, and one of our team members in the UK noted that services were running slow.
Failed login pages on Google end up showing a “502” error. The issue also affects sites that support log in with Google.
As we’re publishing this post, reports on DownDetector are starting to drop off, so this issue may already be mostly resolved.
