
Google sees Discover as a way to “catch up on your interests and the world,” and is rolling out two updates that allow for better personalization (“Follow on Google”) and variety.
With these updates, we aim to make Discover a more helpful jumping-off point for exploring the content you love.
Google Discover now lets you “Follow” publishers and creators to “see more of their content.” This new button is available in the top-right corner, while tapping the image + name at the left lets you see a feed of their articles, YouTube videos, and social content. There are links to those accounts, and the Wikipedia description. This is only available when you’re signed in and rolling out starting today.
…we’ll continue to add even more ways for people to connect directly with the publishers and creators they love in Discover.
Discover remains algorithmically sorted, but this is a good step towards more control and customization, especially for those that have issues with feed quality and relevance. Historically, you’ve just been able to tap “See less content like this,” “Not interested in [topic]” or “Don’t show content from [site].”
This follows Google Search in August adding Preferred new sources in the Top Stories carousel.


More broadly, Google Discover is adding more types of content. Social posts from Instagram and X, as well as YouTube Shorts, will now appear alongside articles. More platforms will be supported in the future, with Google testing this since April. Search results have long displayed social feeds.
Google notes how its research found that users “enjoyed seeing a mix of content in Discover.” The feed wants to be “one convenient spot” for everything, and surface content wherever “your favorite voices and publishers” post. This is rolling out in the coming weeks.
