Google releases colorful rope wrist straps for Pixel phones [Gallery]

Google is getting a little more adventurous in the accessory game with a new rope wrist strap offering for Pixel phones, or any device, for that matter – just not the Pixel Fold series.

A new entry appeared on the Google Store today as part of the company’s accessory lineup for Pixel. The new “Google Rope Wristlet” is a wrist strap for devices with a case. The strap connects with a spring ring clasp to a shim with a D-ring placed between the case and the back of the phone.

It’s specifically marketed towards Pixel devices, though it appears to work with any phone and case with a USB-C port. This isn’t the first accessory to use this connection method. The rope cross-body strap has been gaining popularity, and companies are using the connection method because it isn’t case-dependent.

The only phone Google’s wrist strap won’t work with is the Pixel Fold series, with a specific mention on the product page. This is likely due to the nature of cases on foldables, since they don’t hold on to all four sides.

It’s not often that Google launches an accessory almost a month after releasing a new phone series, though

Google’s Rope Wristlet costs $7 and comes in three colors: Purple/Blue, Green/Yellow, and Black/Grey. It’s not often that Google launches an accessory almost a month after releasing a new phone series, though it clearly isn’t marketed for the Pixel 10 series alone, as it would likely come in matching colorways. These are more generic colors for Google’s new wrist strap.
