Alongside the Pixel Buds 2a, Google announced a big Pixel Buds Pro 2 software update coming in September, while there’s a new Moonstone color.
Google is releasing Pixel Buds Pro 2 in Moonstone to match the new phones, while a big Feature Drop software update is coming in September.
A new Adaptive Audio feature can automatically adjust to how noisy the current environment is by drowning out distractions and decreasing other sounds when it’s loud. It resides between the Noise Cancellation and Transparency mode.
Similarly, Loud Noise Protection will have the Pixel Buds Pro 2 dampen sudden loud noises. For example, sirens won’t be passed to your ears at maximum volume.

Continuing on the audio front is how Pixel Buds Pro 2 can now prioritize your voice and eliminate background noises during Gemini Live sessions. You can still talk to Google while the TV is on or people around you are talking thanks to this advanced audio processing.
Gestures will let you shake your head to decline calls, while nodding can be used to answer them and start message replies. This is powered by the built-in accelerator and other sensors.
You’ll also get notifications when the charging case is running low on battery or is fully charged.
Pixel Buds Pro 2 will be available on August 28 in this year’s signature phone color for $229. The dark blue of Moonstone looks nice with the black underside and eartip, though I’m envious of how the Iris Pixel Buds 2a has color-matching tips.
