Google upgrades Pixel 10 wired charging speeds, reaches 70% in 30 minutes on XL

The Pixel 10 series is chock full of some pretty impressive improvements, and Google hasn’t forgotten to pay some attention to its charging speeds, specifically on the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

In addition to upgrading to 25W wireless charging — though only on the Pro XL, unfortunately — Google is also amping up how fast its devices charge through a wired connection. Google isn’t always great at explaining its own charging speeds, typically leaning on percentages within a 30-minute time period rather than giving straight wattage ratings, but you can still learn plenty from these figures.

This year, Google’s ratings rely on either 30W or 45W fast chargers, implying those rates are the maximum speeds for the entire series. That’s pretty common; Google similarly used its in-house 45W charger for ratings last year, though the non-Pro XL models typically topped out at 27W. This year, Google says the Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro reach 55% charge in around 30 minutes while using a 30W USB-C PPS charger or higher. That’s the same speed given as on the Pixel 9, albeit without Google specifically calling out its own 45W charger in the test.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is slightly slower, delivering 50% on a 30 minute charge while using a 30W PPS brick. The Pixel 10 Pro XL is the big upgrade, delivering 70% charge in that same 30-minute window while utilizing a 45W PPS charger. While that doesn’t mean the Pixel 10 Pro XL tops out at 45W directly, those are similar rates to what the 45W Galaxy S25 Ultra is capable of achieving in the same time period. Samsung isn’t a leader in this category per se, but considering how far behind the times Google has often felt on charging speeds — even compared to its Korean counterpart — it’s good to see the two brands beginning to push speeds forward again.

Presumably, you’ll find the best charging experience using Google’s new Pixel Flex Dual Port charging, a 67W PPS brick with two USB-C ports that detects and prioritizes your smartphone. But at $60, you might want to wait for a sale down the road.
