The Pixel Watch 4 is finally here — or, well, it will be, once its October shipping date finally rolls around. It sure seems like the wait’s going to be worth it, though. With a bigger, brighter display, improved battery life, and plenty of improvements to fitness tracking, it’s shaping up to be a must-buy for older Pixel Watch owners, and that means you’ll want to get the most bang for your buck on a trade-in.
As usual with Google, it doesn’t matter which Pixel Watch 4 model you pick — regardless of size, color, or connectivity options, your trade-in values are going to be the same. Google accepts watches from Apple, Samsung, Fitbit, Garmin, and, of course, itself, and it’s legacy Pixel Watches where you’re going to find the best return for your older gadgets. Here’s a breakdown for all three generations:
Pixel Watch 3 | $140 |
Pixel Watch 2 | $70 |
Pixel Watch | $35 |
Those returns are far lower than what Google delivers when buying a new Pixel 10, so if you’re looking at picking up a new phone and a new wearable this year, you might want to consider waiting on the smartwatch. Google is giving Pixel 10 buyers store credit to put towards their next purchase, ranging from $100 for the standard model to $350 for the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Factor that in with these trade-in offers, and the price for the Pixel Watch 4 suddenly feels a whole lot more achieveable.
Things aren’t much better for other OEMs, however. Here’s a breakdown of select watch trade-in values; check out the Google store for a more complete roundup.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 | $175 |
Apple Watch Series 8 | $100 |
Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra | $145 |
Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 | $100 |
Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic | $55 |
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 | $25 |
Garmin Forerunner 965 | $50 |
All accepted Fitbit models | $35 |
In some cases, depending on which smartwatch you currently own, you might be better off waiting for a post-launch sale. With the holidays not too far away, it’s entirely possible we could see discounts that knock off more than, say, the $25 you can get for a Galaxy Watch 4. That said, we’re starting to see electronics rise in price thanks to the ongoing tariff war in the US, so you never know.

Best Buy
Best Buy is the other storefront to shop if you’re looking to trade in an older watch, promising “up to” $200 in value. All of the brands accepted by Google are here, as is Oura, if you’re looking to ditch your smart ring for something with a display. If you’re coming from a Pixel Watch 2 or 3, you’re better off shopping with Google — I spotted values for $95 and $200, respectively, topping what Google’s willing to pay out. First-gen Pixel Watch owners are, unfortunately, left in the dust.
The same goes for Samsung fans. A Galaxy Watch 7 trade-in would earn me $135 towards the Pixel Watch 4, $35 more than what Google promised, while a standard Galaxy Watch 6 would give me $65. It’s not always the winner here, though; while Google will give Galaxy fans $25 for their Watch 4, Best Buy will only give you $5. And at that point, why bother?
