Gemini rolling out homepage redesign with Tools menu, new Wear OS glow

After starting last month, Google is widely rolling out a Gemini homepage redesign on the web that introduces a Tools menu.

This desktop revamp of gemini.google.com starts with the “Ask Gemini” prompt bar no longer being docked to the bottom of your screen. Instead, it’s now centered — with the “Hello” greeting just above the field — in a design that more than evokes Google Search.

Google has removed the standalone chips for a new “Tools” menu, which amusingly uses the exact same icon as site info in Chrome’s address bar. Gemini explains how “All your tools and features are now in one place.” What appears depends on your Google AI plan:

  • Videos with Veo
  • Deep Think
  • Deep Research
  • Canvas
  • Images with Imagen
  • Guided Learning

Underneath the prompt bar is a new row of actions with four suggested prompts each:

  • Write
  • Build
  • Deep Research
  • Create Image
  • Create Video

Once you enter a prompt, the bar will slide down to the bottom of the screen like before for a standard chat interface. Overall, the Tools menu makes things a bit cleaner.

On mobile web, the prompt bar remains at the bottom of the screen, but the row appears immediately below the greeting. This Gemini Tools redesign is also slowly rolling out to Android and iOS.

In other developments, Google is now widely rolling out a Gemini for Wear OS update that introduces the new four-color glow. Replacing the blue-purple, you initially get a blue, red, yellow, and green glow. Afterwards, it switches to a light blue.

Old vs. new
